The Tiverton Land Trust and The Tiverton Farmers Market are collaborating to bring you a fabulous outdoor fall event on Sunday\, October 17th\, from 12-4pm.\nActivities at the Harvest Market includes\, guided walks through Pardon Gray Preserve trails and cemetery\, “Pick You Own” pumpkin patch\, specialty non-alcoholic elixirs available at the Town Farm Tonics & Fieldstone Kombucha Tent\, a fall harvest photo opp spot\, lawn games and artists painting the market landscape scenes. We also have something for the furry friends\, Pavlov’s Treats For Dogs Food Truck and Bark-N-Park Mobile Grooming will be onsite for treats and nail trimmings. \nSupport independent makers and entrepreneurs when you buy local. Entry and parking is free and open to the public. The most up to date Covid mandates will apply. Artist registration & set-up is from 9-10am. T4C Merchants Association\, Arts Center & Gallery at Four invite artists to register by September 10. Maps & lunch provided! Painters may venture throughout the village to find their chose angle of interest among the historic shops\, gardens\, paths\, streams\, fences\, flowers and other inspirations. Paint all day then gather together for a viewing and awards at 4:30. All are welcome to attend or observe. Three prizes will be awarded by the guests. Third prize is $100\, Second prize is $150 and First Prize is $250 plus an invitation to participate in the 2021 Gallery at Four Holiday Exhibition. Registration is $50 with limited space available. SUMMARY:Tails & Tales Community Storytelling Series
DESCRIPTION:Wanda Schell\, from the Rhode Island Black Storytellers\, will perform “No Man Ever Would Have Been Treated So: The Trials of Elleanor Eldridge.” Elleanor Eldridge was the first Black woman in America to plead a case in court. This industrious\, ingenious\, 19th-century Rhode Island native fought to regain her property stolen by an unscrupulous money lender. \nRhode Island Black Storytellers is the only nonprofit organization in Rhode Island dedicated to promoting the awareness\, appreciation\, and application of the oral arts and traditions of African and African-descended people worldwide. They share their craft through performances\, workshops\, and cultural\, educational\, and historical experiences. RIBS tells Black stories and helps others do the same–not just because they believe it is important for Black communities to know their own history and culture\, but for everyone to experience Black culture presented by Black people. Wanda Schell is an actress\, published playwright\, and historical re-enactor. She is a graduate of Rhode Island College\, Trinity Rep Conservative\, and holds a Master of Arts from SNHU in English\, Creative Writing\, and Screenwriting. For over 10 years\, Wanda worked with students and young adults about social issues and cultural topics through live theatre and other artistic methods. She is currently researching and working on a piece written by\, Zora Neale Hurston’s Book\, Barracoon\, The Story of the Last “Black Cargo.” \nRegister on event page.
